VICE-PRESIDENTIAL aspirant Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte has doused cold water on apparent efforts to push an Isko-Sara tandem, even as she assured her followers she remains loyal to the UniTeam and committed to be the running-mate of presidential front-runner Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr.

“I truly appreciate the love of so many for me and I do not wish to impose upon you my choice for president. While I continue to respect your decision to support another presidential candidate, it is with a heavy heart that I cannot be one with you on this,” Duterte said in a statement.

The Davao mayor said: “Despite the challenges and limitations I am facing, the groundwork for my candidacy as vice-president is moving well with the help of my volunteers and supporters nationwide, who give me strength, fortitude, and inspiration”.

“Bongbong Marcos, our candidate for president, is also there always. Because of his experience in government, I believe he is ready and capable to lead the country. When I decided to run for  vice-president, I chose to be in tandem with BBM. With this, the Uniteam BBM-Sara was born,” she said, partly in Filipino.

Duterte reiterated her unwavering loyalty to Lakas-CMD Party, her political party, and Marcos’ Partido Federal ng Pilipinas.

“Word of honor and conviction are important to me. I know that [BBM and I have shared] aspirations for our country. And to succeed, we must take the same road. That is why I continue to rely on your support for UniTeam,” she added.

Last week, a group introducing themselves as purveyors of ISSA, or Isko-Sara Tandem, came out, in what was seen as an effort to drive a wedge between the BBM-Sara UniTeam.

But instead of gaining traction, the idea, allegedly a brainchild of a political mercenary, backfired and turned off even their most diehard supporters.

UniTeam, meanwhile, continues to dominate the surveys as they focus on their agenda of unifying the country for a better future.
